Pain that increases with breathing, coughing, sneezing and any movement or physical exertion
Let’s talk Costochondritis in simple terms
In fibromyalgia!! 💜
CHEST AND RIBCAGE PAIN
The ribs are connected to the
CARTILAGE
breastbone by tough, protective tissue called cartilage.
When this RIB cartilage becomes inflamed, the condition is known as Costochondritis or chest wall pain.
LOCATION of PAIN
SYMPTOMS OF COSTOCHONDRITIS:

Sharp, stabbing, or burning pain in the front of the chest Rib or multiple ribs that are sore and tender to the touch Pain on the left or right side of the chest but it’s hits most on your left side that can radiate to the ribs under your Brest , all your chest area , shoulders, arms and all your back..
Tightness in the chest wall
Pain that increases with breathing, coughing, sneezing and any movement or physical exertion
Pain caused by Costochondritis might mimic that of a heart attack or other heart conditions. Costochondritis is the cartilage connecting the ribs to the sternum. It causes chest pain, which can be mistaken for heart-related conditions, pain worsening with movement, tenderness or swelling of the area
Causes of Costochondritis:
Severe coughing, which strains your chest area. an injury to your chest. physical strain from repeated exercise or sudden exertion you’re not used to, such as moving furniture(heavy lifting anything) over doing your self/body like cleaning, exercises, gardening, the kind of job you have, etc Repetitive Strain/ Overuse Injury or trauma to the chest
Arthritis or inflammatory conditions. As well an infection, including respiratory tract infections and wound infections.
Treatment:
Plenty of rest and activity modification to reduce strain it’s a must…
Ice or heat (whatever works best for you ) hot baths or showers to reduce inflammation and pain
Strengthening Exercises
Always Avoiding exacerbating activities if you have this condition otherwise you’re gonna be from one flareup to another back to back..
Utility of supportive postures is important .
